Butch Voices
Santina Giordano gets the lowdown from Raquel Gutierrez about The Butch Voices conference coming up OCTOBER 8-10, 2010. It is a weekend mega-connection: amazing speakers – creative workshops – mind-blowing performers (Phranc, BdP & D’Lo) – art & modish fashion – butch bonding! Butch Voices welcomes all who identify as Butch, boi, genderqueer, tomboy, stud, butcha, dragking, jock, dyke, two-spirit, FtoM, trans-masculine, androgynous-with-a-butch-twist. Plus Femmes, divas & other allies! Connect with the power of our diverse, many-cultured communities of lesbians. Queer, feminist, womanist … whatever kind of butch you are! http://www.butchvoices.com/

Building Bridges with Astraea
Sheri Lunn brings us another in her series of New York Stories...this time featuring the great works of the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice as she joins Executive Director Katherine Acey in the NYC headquarters of Astraea. Astraea is a dynamic global foundation providing critically needed financial support to lesbian-led, trans, LGBTI and progressive organizations. Separated by continents, language and culture, Astraea grantees are seizing opportunities, and laying the groundwork necessary for women and LGBTI people to claim their human rights. Astraea staff, board, members and grantees all share a deep commitment to feminist principles, racial and economic justice and human rights.
